Troy and Christine Perez Win Redfish Tour Punta Gorda Event.

Troy and Christine Perez, from Titusville, FL won the IFA Redfish Tour Florida West Division event in Punta Gorda Saturday with a two-redfish catch weighing 13.81- pounds.

PUNTA GORDA, Fla. — June 18, 2007 — The victory earned this Cabela’s sponsored team their second 1st place win of the year, their first win taking place in Titusville, FL. They were awarded a Ranger Banshee rigged with a 40 HP, 4-stroke Yamaha outboard, Loadmaster trailer, Power Pole shallow water anchor, Minn Kota trolling motor and Humminbird electronics, valued at approximately $20,000.

“We had a close spot and a far spot and the far spot turned out to be the ticket. We used gulp all day long and just really enjoyed ourselves. This was a very relaxing trip for us, we did things very casually,” stated Christine. Troy said, “We didn’t scout too hard and we have learned not to fish in schools. We sight fished today…we just threw at them and caught them. Winning in Punta Gorda is great because here the anglers are hardcore!”

Rounding out the top five boaters were Bryan Watts and John Ochs (13.43-pounds, $4,280); Geoff Page and Terry Brantley (12.94-pounds, $2,570; Alex Suesgun and Fabian Guerrero (12.81-pounds, $1,710) and Anthony Rowan and Billy Green (12.69-pounds, $1,250).

Troy and Christine were the recipients of the $1000 Ranger Cup check (to find out more about this program go to www.rangerboats.com), the $100 check for wearing their Solar Bat sunglasses across the stage and the $500 check for Big Fish of the tournament (7.67-pound redfish).

The lucrative IFA Redfish Tour presented by Cabela’s is a series of one-day, catch and release, close-to-home events, with two-angler teams using artificial lures only.
