Troy and Christine Perez Win Redfish Tour Titusville Event

For immediate release

The husband and wife team of Troy and Christine Perez, from Titusville, won the IFA Redfish Tour Eastern Florida Division event in Titusville Saturday with a two-redfish catch weighing 13.67-pounds.

TITUSVILLE, Fla. — May 19, 2007 — The victory earned the Cabela’s sponsored team a Ranger Banshee rigged with a 40 HP, 4-stroke Yamaha outboard, Loadmaster trailer, Power Pole shallow water anchor, Minn Kota trolling motor and Humminbird electronics, valued at approximately $20,000. The Perez’s were also awarded the $500 Big Fish prize, a Ranger Cup check in the amount of $1,000, the Solar Bat contingency prize of $100 and 200 points toward the Eastern Florida Divisional Team of the Year race.

“It was lucky, you only win by ounces. Do you know how many times we have lost by ounces? Stated Troy Perez. “We drew a high number at the captain’s meeting and were the 104th boat going out this morning, out of 106, and Troy was not happy about it. I sure was not looking forward to being in the boat with him today,” said Christine Perez.

Troy and Christine caught both winning fish before 9 am, prior to the clouds coming in. They were site casting with Berkley Gulp 4-inch molting shrimp pattern “In fact, the two winning fish came off the exact same bait. We caught roughly twenty to twenty-five fish today,” stated Troy.

Rounding out the top five boaters were Carl Hardy and Robert Carter of Jacksonville, FL (13.64- pounds, $5,300); Scott Guthrie and Mark Sepe of Jacksonville, FL (13.64-pounds, $3,100); Larry Fowler and John Lulay of Titusville, FL (12.76-pounds, $2,100) and Buck Jones and Erin Deemer of Apopka, FL (11.92-pounds, $1,500).

The next tournament of the season will take place in Darien, Georgia, June 8th. For more information about the IFA Redfish Tour and its tournaments, visit www.redfishtour.com or call 478-788-8871.
