IFA Redfish Tour Hits 100 Boats in Lafitte.

The IFA Redfish Tour Presented by Cabela’s held it’s first 2007 Louisiana Division tournament this past weekend in Lafitte. There were 102 teams that lined up Saturday morning ready to take on the Louisiana reds and by the looks of the number of fish brought to the scales the anglers were successful. The common phrase of the day was, “we caught between 20 and 30 redfish today!”

WEB 2.0, LAFITTE — May 05, 2007 — The 1st place prize of a Ranger Banshee rigged with a 40 HP, 4-stroke Yamaha outboard, Loadmaster trailer, Power Pole shallow water anchor, Minn Kota trolling motor and Humminbird electronics, valued at approximately $20,000, went to the team of Captain Dwayne Eschete and partner, Bruce Lindheim, from Mandeville, LA. Dwayne and Bruce ran to Dela-croix to catch their 8.31 and 8.06-pound redfish and were lucky to make the catch in the hour and a half of fishing they had before they had to head back to the scales. The Ranger Cup Powered by Yamaha check in the amount of $1,500 was also presented to this team along with 200 points toward the Cabela’s Louisiana Divisional Team of the Year race. Coming to the scales with a total weight of 16.13-pounds was Captain Sal Fontana, Sr. and partner Tony Grose, from Metairie, LA. Sal and Tony caught their 8.75 and 7.38-pound redfish on spinnerbaits and walked away with a check for $5,000 for their 2nd place finish, another check in the amount of $500 for the 8.75-pound Big Fish of the tournament and 199 points toward the Cabela’s Louisiana Divisional Team of the Year race.

3rd place awards and a check in the amount of $3,000 went to Captain Chad Billiot and partner Chris Beatty, from Cut Off, LA. “We have fished together since we were kids, but this was the first time for us to fish a tournament together,” stated Chris. Chad and Chris brought in a two-fish team weight of 16.04-pounds and earned 198 points towards the Cabela’s Louisiana Divisional Team of the Year race.

We always enjoy bringing the Redfish Tour to Louisiana where the fishing is great and the anglers are even greater! This year’s IFA Redfish Tour presented by Cabela’s is a series of one-day, catch and release, close-to-home events, with two-angler teams using artificial lures only. The tour consists of six divisions with three single-day local events each. The next tournament of the season will take place in Charleston, May 12th.
